The record module is used to command active runtime nodes to start and stop recording data to the hard drive.
It uses the UTC timestamp─of the moment record is pressed─to name and identify the logfile session.
In a single host system, all data is recorded and written to the same directory, in individual
plog files. Runtime nodes record data on the local host they are executing on in a distributed system.
Each host has a unified
rnr_logs directory where data is written to. This is defined in the SDF Configurator in the “Record and Replay Direcotry” field.
This article demonstrates the process to record data using the record module.
To replay the recorded data on another system, follow the exporting data article.
