Add Sensor Node

This article will walk you through the process of adding a sensor node to the system SDF.

Sensor nodes in PolySync are directly associated with a hardware device or sensor. Unless the node is running in the replay state, it will expect that physical hardware is connected to the host machine the node is defined on.

A Dynamic Driver interface exists for each of the supported devices and sensors. These are typically provided with PolySync, but custom Dynamic Driver interfaces may also be created.

Refer to the Supported Sensors section for instructions to configure each sensor.

1. Add a sensor node

Start the SDF Configurator from the application browser, or the command:

$ polysync-core-sdf-configurator

To add a new sensor node press the Add Sensor Node button in the bottom-left of the SDF Configurator.

Select the sensor from the drop-down list and give the node a name.

The SDF Configurator opens all Dynamic Driver interface files from the polysync/lib directory, for example polysync/lib/libps_mobileye_560_interface.so.

2. Configure the node parameters

Once the node has been created in the SDF, the supported parameters for the node are automatically populated by the SDF Configurator with default values.

Refer to the Supported Sensors section for specific instructions on configuring each sensor before starting the node. It’s common that the IO and/or Sensor Parameters must be manually set before the node can be started successfully.

3. Starting nodes

Now that the SDF node(s) are defined, they can be started individually, or you can start the full runtime by starting sensor and hardware nodes, or replaying a logfile session.
