Single Host Setup

PolySync IP address

When using a static network, the DDS Discovery feature will search for other hosts through the defined Ethernet interface. If other PolySync hosts exist on the network the PolySync bus will be shared, which means other host’s and node’s data will be visible, and vice versa. The proper way to connect two or more ECUs is through a distributed host set up.

Set Address

For a single host system with a static IP address, the following command can be used:

$ polysync-core-manager -s xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

This updates the low-level network configuration file telling PolySync which IP address is associated to the PolySync bus.

Feel free to use the default IP address: 127.0.0.1, or select a static IP address from a private network.

For single host systems it is highly recommended to use the loopback interface with the IP address 127.0.0.1.

$ polysync-core-manager -s 127.0.0.1

Multicast

One requirement for PolySync nodes to discover each other on the loopback interface is to enable multicast.

$ sudo ifconfig lo multicast

This is set persistently during the polysync_post_install.sh script during installation.

SDF IP address

Lastly, open the SDF Configurator to ensure that the SDF configuration matches the system network configuration. If there is a mismatch detected in the SDF, the Host Wizard will open.

$ polysync-core-sdf-configurator
